A Vacation Rental in a Wine Growing Area

Essex County is an agricultural region with a growing wine business. In 1890 there were 41 wineries in Canada, with 23 of those in the corridor between Windsor and Pelee Island. Ten years ago there were only four. In 2004 there were seven with four more expected to open in 2005 and two more in 2006.

The region is a winemaker's paradise blessed with exceptional soil conditions and a regional climate which offers longer sun  conditions than any other area in Canada. In fact, geographically speaking, it is located as far south as northern California and the Tuscany region of Italy, and further south than the renowned Bordeaux and Burgundy wine regions of France.

Pelee Island Winery
